BREW Pitch Night scheduled for Thursday, November 19

EVENT TO FEATURE THREE ROUNDS OF SHORT-FORMAT BUSINESS PITCHES WITH AUDIENCE AND INVESTOR JUDGING

Baton Rouge, LA – Area entrepreneurs ready to kick-start their business concepts are invited to apply to present at the fifth annual BREW Pitch Night on November 19 at Creative Bloc. In an effort to accommodate more entrepreneurs, the event will feature one-minute presentations rather than longer pitches as in previous years. Following their pitch, presenters will receive audience feedback and will be judged by a panel of local and national investor judges which will determine advancement to semi-final and final rounds of the competition.

The winning business will receive $1,000, along with a package of services from local businesses, including start-up consulting provided by Louisiana Tech Park, financial consulting courtesy of Horne LLP, presentation coaching provided by Emergent Method, and legal consulting courtesy of Kean Miller.

“While Pitch Night has been a highlight of BREW since its inception, we wanted to shake up the old-school format of ‘pitch and judge,’” said Jared Loftus, previous Pitch Night winner and member of the Pitch Night organizing committee. “We had such a great response – not to mention investment placed – in the lightning round last year that we decided to make the entire event that format.”

The event is designed to provide a platform for local entrepreneurs to vet their concepts in front of the public and potential investors; however, for audience attendees it’s a high-energy peek into the future of Baton Rouge’s business scene, with the opportunity to help select the winners.

The evening will kick off at 5:30 with a happy hour, followed by the pitch competition beginning at 6:30. The event is open to the public, but seating is limited. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $10 at www.brewpitchnight.com or, if still available, at the door for $15. Entrepreneurs interested in submitting an application can find more information and apply at www.brewpitchnight.com.
